Does Athlon 2 X2 260 (Regor) support Windows 10? Keepitsimpleengineer Jul 2, 2015 4:03 PM Per Get your PC ready for Windows 10| ZDNet. AMD Athlon II X2 245 / 2.9 GHz processor overview and full product specs on. Controller, streaming SIMD extensions 3, AMD Virtualization, AMD CoolCore.
CPU-Z says: Core Speed: 2416 MHz Multiplier: 12.0 Bus Speed: 201 MHz HT Link: 1006 MHz Mem Frequency:402MHz FSB/DRAM: CPU/6 Mem Timing:5-5-5-12 2T (corsair says its 5-5-5-12 T1 but if I change from 2T to 1T Win reboots) This is all on the Optimized Defaults settings except where I manually entered the Memory timings instead of relying on Auto. I tried the 3dMark06 and got a score of. I am getting just under 5000 3dMark06 scores with my current setup. ATI Catalyst settings are all maxed at: 6x AA with Temporal AA Enabled 16x AF with High Quality AF Enabled Catalyst AI set to Advanced Mipmap Detail set to High Quality Wait for Vertical Refresh set to Always On Adaptive AA Enabled with max Quality setting All Motherboard settings modified from 'Load Optimized Settings' in the BIOS. Increased CPU Voltage by 3.3% over stock Increased DDR Voltage by.05 over stock to 1.95 Increased FSB to 245 Decreased Multiplier to x10 Set Mem Timings to 5-5-5-12 - Auto (picks 2T) (Corsair specs say 5-5-5-12-1T but system is stable at 2T so far) Anyone else have this board and know what some of the BIOS settings do? Curious about the High Performance Mode (Standard/Optimized options only) and the HT Link Speed (Standard/For Overclocking options only-not what the manual says). Here are my results so far.
Any advice on pushing things further? Ok first of all you are not really consistent about what you want. You are the one who judged the speed of the system by its 3dmark06 score. Granted 5000 is not a great score for your system, but you are comparing apples with oranges. The 5000 is a perfectly reasonable score at those AA & AF settings.
For you to have a wider range of comparison, you will have to run 3dmark06 at its default settings and then compare the scores with the ones that you can find online. I personally don't think that there is anything wrong with your rig (maybe it should run at 1T but that is not a noticeable performance loss), and the problem is in your method of comparing speeds. Again, not saying that you have to run games and everything with AA or AF disabled, just please humor me and run a 3dmark06 at standard settings and post the score.
You are correct in that I do not really have a range of comparison other than scores I have seen posted by others which have gone up to 10,000 or even 15,000. Then after noticing a difference in scores at default settings (somewhere in the 5,000's or low 6,000s) I figured it was the heavy graphic settings. I am wondering if my BIOS settings are preventing me from taking full advantage of my components. I figured the graphic tests of 3dmark06 would get better frame rates than what I get now (much at 10fps and little at 30fps most in between) at full graphic settings. I was hoping for something in the 60s. BIOS settings rarely affect GFX performance. If the PCI-E slot is running at 16x, i don't think there is anything else in BIOS that would help you improve on the GFX performance.
On the other hand, 3dmark06 and gaming is also affected by CPU, so OC-ing the CPU is a good way to gain some frames, but you're going in the wrong way in your OC. Increasing FSB to 246 and dropping the CPU multi to 10x makes no sense, since you would have better results running the FSB at 210 and CPU multi at 12x, which is a very small OC. I would suggest you increase the CPU multi to 11x, and if the CPU is still stable (run prime95 to check for stability), try to bump the CPU multi back to 12x. If it doesn't work, just increase the cpu voltage by a bit and try again. Always keep an eye on the temperatures. If at max voltage it won't be able to boot at 246x12, just decrease the FSB a bit.
Thanks for the info. Will give that a try. Where can I find info on the supported range of voltages for a particular CPU or memory?
I can only find 'recommended' settings by the manufacturer. Im afraid of putting too much current through a component.
I would like to optimize the rate between the memory - nb - cpu (assuming i am understanding things properly) and overclock my 2.4GHz by 10%, 15% max. Ive had it around 2.55 with no noticeable heat increase but it wasnt too stable. Would like to have a stable 2.6+GHz until I experiment with better cooling but mostly concerned with maximizing the mem-cpu bandwidth. Should my DDR2-800 PC6400 be running at 400MHz or 800? I sort of understand the double data rate thing in that the clock is doubled (400 x 2). How is DDR2 diff from DDR other than higher available speeds? It has been a while since my last upgrade and am trying to understand some of the relationships in oc'ing.
Ive looked at several of the 'guides' and none really seem to explain in good enough detail to really understand how one setting affects another and what to expect and how to compensate. I figure a good generic trial an error step by step process is out there somewhere with good explanations as to WHY you are changing things and how they relate to other settings. Id like to understand more than just poke around. Thanks again. Okay about why your memory ratios change that has to do with the multiplier my x2 5000 uses a cpu/7 memory divider cause i got a 13x multiplier. If u want to overclock lower your multiplier to an odd number or set your ram to ddr2 333 and ramp up the fsb speed, it will simultaneously ramp up your memory speed too so u are still gonna get over 400 mhz ddr2 (800 in effect) but u wont go too far in overclocking your memory (so from 333 u might end up at 410 for example when your overclock is dont and not from 400 to 490 which your mem might be too much to handle) my x2 5000 with an x1950xtx scores 6190 in 3dmark 06 with everything left at default if u need a base to compare. Its been a (little) while since this thread was revived but here is what I have done so far.
I now understand more about oc'ing the mobo/ram/cpu but would like to know what more of the mobo BIOS settings are for. I was able to get my setup to run stable with a 6100+ 3dMark06 score with all settings maxed on the graphics card with the following settings: FSB: 295 CPU Multi: x9 CPU: 2.4 upped to 2.655 Mem Divider was 533 Mem Freq was 380 (760 effective) at 5-5-5-12 T2 Voltages were increased enough to run stable: CPU Default + 6.6%, Mem 2.0V, HT Voltage 1.9, NB Voltage 2.0 CPU ran upwards of about 50C max under full load (stock amd fan/sink).
Trying to push past 300 would not post. May try 8 multi and drop mem divider to lowest (400) and try to push FSB further. Will post findings once finished. I understand about wanting to push my graphics further by tweaking the vid card but mostly interested in FSB:Mem ratio. Graphics card is good enough. Seems the lowest (best) divider one can get on an AM2 is CPU/5.
I just have to find the right combo to get the most out of my ddr2-800. I got a 20% boost on my 3dmark score by going from 200 FSB and 12x Multi to 245 FSB and 10x Multi and no graphics card tweaking.
Mem divider was 800 and was running at 980 effective and extrememly stable. I have read reviews about my mem and it is VERY oc friendly. Highest review I have seen had an OC of 960 with 2.1v at 5-5-5-12-T2 or even T1 and they said they could have pushed it further but their test board would not push more mem voltage.
